We currently serve over 2,000 students and operate four elementary schools and two middle schools in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles.Role Summary:To help us achieve our mission, we are seeking to identify an Instructional Coach for math and science (grades 5-8) who will coach and develop teachers, leading to increased student academic achievement and teacher satisfaction and support.Essential Responsibilities:Instructional Coaching (70%) Provides individualized instructional coaching to middle school math and science teachers, in alignment with the Equitas coaching modelConducts regular classroom observations, providing actionable feedback aligned to agreed-upon goals, job responsibilities, and rubricsSupports teachers in meeting the needs of Emergent Bilingual Scholars and Scholars with DisabilitiesCreate specific coaching goals tailored to teacher needsProvides reports and progress updates to appropriate school leadersProvides model/demonstration lessons for in-person observation; creates videos modeling key instructional practicesContributes to middle of year reviews and end of year reviews for coacheesDesigning & Facilitating Professional Learning Experiences (20%) Creates materials and facilitator guides for high quality professional development sessions, aligned to school goalsFacilitates professional development aligned to curriculum and instructional initiatives, informed by assessment dataCo-designs individualized professional learning plans to support the growth and development of teachersServes as a Member of the School Leadership Team (10%) Participate as an active member of the school leadership leadership team, including responding to student and teacher needs.Meet regularly with School Principals to discuss teachers progress on coaching goalsOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism (DEIA) and a desire to empower those who experience marginalizationA strong alignment with Equitas Academys vision, mission, and valuesAdaptive leadership skillsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to build and cultivate trusting, supportive relationships with scholars and adultsInstructional expertise, including knowledge of Common Core-aligned instruction, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), and student-centered classroomsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to manage a busy schedule with shifting priorities while being present for others and maintaining personal wellbeing; ability to calibrate emotional responses, adjusting tone and actions as neededAbility to hold oneself and others accountable to high standards while also prioritizing wellness, sustainability and positive relationships; ability to use appropriate strategies to recover physically and renew mentally and emotionallyRequirements A bachelors degreeA California teaching credential or out of state equivalent required, clear preferredAt least 3 years of teaching experience (5 preferred), with a demonstrated record of exceptional academic outcomes for scholarsExperience in school leadership positions, such as Grade Level Lead or Instructional Coach, is preferred, but not requiredTraining and/or experience in instructional coaching is preferred, but not requiredExperience working in historically marginalized communities preferred but not requiredCommitment to DiversityEquitas Academy is actively seeking to build a diverse and experienced team of educators.
