Seasonal Retail Cashier Job Description Summary
Under the Supervision of the Head Cashier and Store Management, a Retail Cashier is the first and last interaction that customers will have in store. This position will manage all transactions with customers accurately, efficiently, and with a friendly demeanor. This position should also be able to resolve customer complaints and ensure maximum customer satisfaction promptly. Enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for serving others are required.
Ultimately, the duties of a Retail Cashier are to achieve excellent customer service by building relationships (both with staff and customers) with genuine conversation and personal interactions while ensuring all transactions run smoothly and accurately.
Responsibilities
- Supports the company culture that ensures radical customer service and high performance is the focus of all activities.
- Delivers outstanding customer service by surpassing our customer's everyday expectations.
- Greets all guests pleasantly - both those visiting the store and answering customer inquiries on the phone. Informs customers of products and services available and assesses customer needs.
- Supports an environment that places the customer's needs before any task-oriented job responsibilities.
- Receives and processes all payments according to company standard procedures. Processes credit and debit cards – assisting customers with credit card terminals as needed.
- Handles cash transactions efficiently and accurately. Counts money back to customers accurately and concisely.
- Assists in the opening and closing of the store, which includes preparing cash drops for the safe and balancing drawer at the end of the day. Completes, processes, and maintains all applicable paperwork and records related to transaction management.
- Examines products being purchased for price accuracy.
- Coordinates with Retail Sales Staff for product inquiries and price checks.
- Maintains in-house customer database and updates as needed.
- Processes discounts and in-store coupons and tracks appropriate codes in the system.
- Assists in the housekeeping and maintenance of the front counter. Maintains clean and tidy checkout areas.
- Continual training on products offered to become experts. Gather & provide feedback to head cashier and store management on new product requests to meet customer needs.
- Comply with inventory control procedures. Handles merchandise returns, exchanges, & defects accurately.
- Knowledgeable of and following all store safety procedures
- Peer to Peer Accountability. Serve co-workers and be willing to have courageous conversations as needed for each other's individual development and growth.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- High school degree/equivalent or more.
- Proven work experience as a cashier, bank teller, or similar role processing transactions preferred
Schedule Requirements:
- Availability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to work week of November 20-25
- Must be able to work Black Friday (November 24) & Saturday (November 25)
- Must be able to Work during December 15 – January 6
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends
- 3-5 Day work weeks with primarily 8-9-hour shifts.
- Eagle Eye is closed every Sunday.
Computer Skill Requirements:
- Good Typing Skills
- Microsoft Applications
- General Understanding of Excel
- General Familiarity with iPad functions.
- Previous Experience using a POS/Inventory Management System a plus.
Physical DemandRequirements:
- Stand/Walk for long periods.
- Use of hands for a firm and strong grasping. Frequent use of finger dexterity.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to talk, hear, and communicate clearly with co-workers and customers.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
