Job Title: Nurse Practitioner

Reports To: COO

Classification: Exempt

Exposure Determination: Exposed

Position Summary:

The Summit Spine Institute helps patients who are tired of living with chronic back pain. We're seeking a dedicated APP to join our Spine team. This position will hold independent clinics for Neurosurgery patients and assist in surgery as needed. In this role, you'll provide high-quality, patient-centered care, collaborating closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to promote optimal health outcomes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, evidence-based practices, and clinical guidelines.
  • Prescribe medications, treatments, and therapies within scope of practice and in accordance with state regulations.
  • Perform minor procedures and interventions, such as wound care, suturing, and administering injections.
  • Provide patient education on health promotion, disease prevention, medication management, and self-care strategies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to coordinate patient care, facilitate referrals, and ensure continuity of care.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly in electronic medical records, adhering to regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and professional development activities to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of advances in nursing practice, pharmacology, and healthcare technology through ongoing education and training.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in Kansas, or eligibility for licensure.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Nurse Practitioner program and board certification (e.g., AANP or ANCC).
  • Strong commitment to patient advocacy, quality healthcare, and effective communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spine or surgical experience
  • Previous medical office experience

Working Conditions:

This position works in varied environments including medical office, clinical rehabilitation area, acute care facilities and outdoor areas, as well as potential for off premise work and travel. Potential to be exposed to hazardous substances, blood and bodily fluids. Constant interaction with co-workers, patients, vendors and general public, which may involve individuals who are angry, upset or ill.

Physical Requirements:

This position is primarily an action position requiring walking, bending, stooping, crawling, squatting and lifting up to 75 pounds. At times must lift up to 100 pounds. Potential for long periods of sitting or standing. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with the computer and other facility operating systems. Must have auditory acuity to effectively interact with patients and public.

Schedule is varied based on the needs of the Department.
