Reporting organizationally to the Head of PMO and Reporting, the PMO Manager will be a key member of the FIFA26 Strategy & Planning team, and work in close collaboration with the FIFA Zurich Project Office and other key individuals responsible for delivering best practice project delivery, providing control and support across several Functional Areas (projects) and work streams in FIFA26 in USA, CAN and MEX. The role will ensure FIFA World Cup 2026 Project Plan is monitored, dates of milestones and deliverables are adhered to, and projects risks are properly identified, treated and reported.
THE POSITION
The main responsibilities and oversights of the PMO Manager for the FIFA World Cup 26™ include:

• Work closely with the FIFA World Cup Project Office and with the relevant FIFA26 Functional Areas to implement a project management rigor with the appropriate resources, communication, methods, processes, and tools
• Act as a partner to the Functional Areas within a portfolio and support them in the day-to-day demands of Project Management and Risk Management
• Develop, maintain, and implement risk management processes for project activities and outputs, including reviewing project plans and other relevant documentation for quality, identifying process improvement opportunities, and providing feedback, guidance and support to FA Leads and Members throughout the planning life cycle of the Tournament
• Ensure project risks are clearly identified/documented and work with the Functional Area risk management delegates to ensure a mitigation strategy is put in place to manage them
• Develop, maintain, and implement appropriate processes to ensure compliance with project management methodology and provide feedback, guidance and support where required
• Manage project management software usage across Functional Areas to ensure accurate and standardized information is inputted into the system and support and coach Functional Area stakeholders in their daily use of the software
• Establish and manage progress, risk and issue reviews with company's Functional Areas at appropriate intervals of the Tournament to ensure project management milestones, progress tracking and risk mitigation are up-to-date
• Embed within Functional Areas to prepare and maintain activity and event schedules and monitor activities, risks, issues, mitigation strategies, dependencies and resource requirements
• Compile regular progress status reports using standardize reporting frameworks to escalate risks, issues, timelines and dependencies within project governance meetings
• Compile regular reporting and updates to the Head of PMO and Reporting and senior leadership on progress, risks, dependencies and issues, as required
• Collaborate across Project Management Office team to share operational learnings, Functional Area dependencies, and shared risks and issues
• Remain flexible in order to support other FIFA26 projects, in addition to those outlined above
• Ensure information management guidelines are adhered to across the team, regularly conducting checks to ensure Project Plan and document libraries are organized according to company's guidelines (I.e. archiving, folder hierarchy structure, file names etc.)
• During the Tournament, the role will transition into coordinating the day-to-day management of the Tournament Headquarters/Main Operations Centre and all aspects related to the resolution of issues and incidents

YOUR PROFILE

• Bachelor's Degree or similar level of higher education in business, project management or related field
• APM, PMI or Prince 2 professional qualification
• At least 4 years' experience in risk management and project management
• Previous experience in a central project/programme management role from more than one major event
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal
• Collaborative and agile to work with other colleagues
• Forward planning and identification of competing resource demands, timelines
• Experience future planning and identification of competing resource demands, timelines
• Experience in developing and implementing project/programme management methodologies
• Experience in assessing risk (preferably according to ISO 31000) and advising on mitigation of risks and issues.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and under pressure
• Ability to assess levels of risk and ability to implement mitigation measures
• Ability to work both independently with minimum supervision and cooperatively within a team situation
• Experience working in a cross-functional, multi-stakeholder environment.
• Ability in managing internal and external stakeholders to build cooperative and positive relationships
• Fluent in English. Spanish and/or French proficiency is a plus
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools
