**Description**

Burns & McDonnell is looking for an experienced solid waste and resource recovery project manager to add to our Environmental Services Engineering team. This position can be based in our Houston or Austin, TX regional office.

As part of the Environmental Services Practice, this position will support the development and growth of our solid waste and resource recovery business practice. The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and have the following experience:

Planning and analysis for solid waste programs including, but not limited to, financial studies, procurement assistance, waste characterization, education and outreach, zero waste studies, and long-range strategic plans.

Leads and contributes to project studies and report preparation assignments. This position requires a competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.

May coordinate or lead departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation assignments.

Analysis of financial, operational and technical data.

Preparation and analysis of financial projections and forecasts.

Preparation of cost of service and rate analysis.

Development of solid waste and recycling plans and studies.

Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.

Applies knowledge and experience to complex projects, find non-standard design solutions.

Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.

Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.

Participate sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.

Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates. Report project performance.

Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the environmental engineering practice. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.

Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.

Interest in the solid waste industry and ability to monitor and communicate new market drivers and regulatory changes.

Other duties, as assigned.

**Qualifications**

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, Government, Community and Regional Planning, or other related field. Master's degree preferred.

7 years of related professional experience required.

Excellent communication skills: verbal and technical writing

Previous consulting experience preferred.

Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

Available for project related and marketing travel, as needed.
