If helping people comes second nature to you, you might be ready for a career as a caregiver. Caregivers, also known as home health or personal care aides, give assistance to people who are sick, injured, mentally or physically disabled, or the elderly and fragile. In this position you will assist the elderly, convalescents, or persons with disabilities with daily living activities and needs.
Essential Responsibilities
• Responsible for resident’s medication management. Ensure Residents take their medication at the appropriate times per doctor prescription.
• Perform healthcare-related tasks, such as monitoring vital signs and medication, under the direction of medical team and/or manager.
• Maintain Resident progress records, services provided, and report condition changes to manager and/or care team.
• Participate in Resident reviews, consulting with the care team to evaluate the Resident's needs and plan for continuing services.
• Keep manager updated on any changes in the status of the Residents’ emotional, physical, or psychological state.
• Administer bedside or personal care, such as ambulation or personal hygiene assistance.
• Assist residents as required and as directed by manager in bathing, grooming, dressing, eating, transfers, incontinent care, medication assistance and any other assistance as directed by manager.
• Always ensure safety and well-being of the Residents , and in emergency situations, call ambulance or fire department as needed.
• Plan, cook and serve meals, following posted menus, always ensuring that proper food handling techniques used and that all state, county, and city regulations are followed.
• Keep all living areas, bathrooms, kitchen and dining areas clean and disinfected at all times.
• Clean residents’ room, medical equipment, and do laundry per set schedule.
• Answer phones, take messages and relay messages to the manager in a timely manner.
• Involve residents daily in age appropriate activities.
• Refer any questions or complaints about the facility to the manager.
• Attend instruction in continuing education a minimum of 6 hours annually.
• Other job duties as assigned by manager.
Basic Qualifications
• Previous caregiver experience (preferred, not required).
• Highschool/GED graduate/diploma (required).
• Must be 18 years of age or older (required).
• Can legally work in the US (required).
• Natural inner desire to help the sick, injured, mentally/physically disabled, and the elderly and fragile (required).
Education
• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Some college, no degree. (preferred).
License, Certification
• CNA (preferred, not required).
• LVN (preferred, not required).
• MA (preferred, not required).
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous caregiver experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
