Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio Inc is Hiring a Bookkeeper Near Columbus, OH

To assist the Accounting Manager and Controller in performing accounting and bookkeeping services for the agency following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Core Duties Responsibilities:

• Monitor accounting email inbox.

• Process bi-weekly payroll for Central Ohio and Affiliates, with Accounting Manager oversight

• Record cash receipts and receivables for agency and affiliate locations (South Central, East Central and Greater Cleveland).

• Record all payables for the agency and affiliates.

• Prepare for payables check-runs, gather signatures and mail checks.

• Obtain and record W-9's from new vendors.

• Assist with 1099 processing.

• Complete all monthly bank reconciliations .

• Post credit card statement activity to proper expense and accounts payable accounts.

• Reconcile all credit card receipts to monthly reports.

• Prepare inter-company invoices.

• Prepare lodging/bed tax returns.

• Compile data and complete the time tracking schedule for government grants.

• Prepare invoice detail summary and record invoices for all assigned grant billings.

• Provide requested details for grant support (i.e. payroll registers, benefit documentation, receipts, mileage reports, etc.)

• Enter grant invoice data in online funding portals as directed by the Grants Manager.

• Assist Accounting Manager with month-end closing duties.

• Post general journal entries as approved by the Accounting Manager.

• Prepare monthly reports as needed.

• Assist in audit preparation including reconciliations.

• Special projects as required.

  • Required to have at least a Bachelor's Degree, and one to three years of successful involvement in accounting. Replace with: Bachelor's Degree preferred; may accept Associates Degree with 7 years experience.
  • Must have excellent computer (Excel, and Word) skills; exceptional problem-solving abilities and good organizational skills.
  • Must be willing and able to make last minute changes to accommodate job responsibilities.

  • To help achieve the mission of the agency, the Bookkeeper may have to assume additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Controller or their designee.
