Berkeley Animal Hospital is Hiring a Practice Manager (FT) Near Berkeley, CA

We are a newly built and privately owned facility in Berkeley, CA on San Pablo between University and Ashby within walking distance to Berkeley Bowl. We are growing fast and looking for an experienced manager. We offer both general practice and same-day urgent care appointments, dentistry and surgery procedures as well as work with several specialist that come in on an as needed basis for Cardiology, Surgery and Internal Medicine.
About Us:
  • Hours 9am-7pm Monday through Saturday.
  • Fear Free practices for both cats and dogs. The clinic is currently going through Fear Free Certification.
  • Utilization of Low Stress techniques for restraint.
About Our Facility- Current 
  • 3000 sq ft.
  • 4 exam rooms
  • 1 consult room/ discharge room
  • Separate Dental Suite with digital dental x-ray
  • Separate Surgery Suite with electrocautery
  • Digital X- Ray
  • Ultrasound
  • Companion Animal Laser
  • Light Filled Treatment room with 2 wet tables and 2 exam tables
  • Casco warming cages
  • Idexx in-house blood machines for CBC,CHEM, UA, clotting times
  • Large stocked pharmacy
  • Neo cloud based software
  • Weave phone lines (all calls recorded)
  • Televet texting services for client communication
We will be expanding our facility next year to include: 4 additional exam rooms, separate cat dog entrance, and a large treatment room with a private office for a manager.
About Our Staff: 
  • 1 Full time DVM and owner.
  • 2 part time DVMs.
  • 3 RVTs.
  • Licensed Acupuncturist two days a week (Wednesday Saturday).
  • Cardiologist appointments once a month with mobile cardiologist for echos consults.
  • Mobile DVMs: Internist/ mobile ultrasounds, surgeons, Internist/ scoping.
About you: 
  • At least 2 years of experience in veterinary medicine.
  • Prior management expierence.
  • Ability to lead and help create new protocols as needed.
  • Love for both animals and clients and an understanding of the human/ animal bond.
Practice Manager Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing Daily Operations: Ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the veterinary hospital on a day-to-day basis. This includes managing staff schedules and addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Managing Finances: Responsible for managing the financial aspects of the hospital, including budgeting, billing, and payroll.
  • Human Resource Management: Hires, trains, and manages staff members, including conducting performance evaluations, addressing any employee concerns or conflicts, and ensuring compliance with labor laws.
  • Maintaining Inventory: Monitors and maintains inventory levels of medical supplies, medications, and equipment and must ensure that all supplies are properly stored and organized.
  • Implementing Policies and Procedures: Responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the hospital, including creating protocols for patient care, staff responsibilities, and emergency situations.
  • Ensuring Compliance: Ensure that the hospital complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, maintains proper licensing and certification for the facility, and adheres to health and safety protocols.
  • Marketing and Business Development: Plays a key role in promoting the hospital and services to attract new clients while retaining existing ones, including developing marketing strategies.
  • Handling Client Relations: Maintaining positive relationships with clients by promptly and professionally addressing concerns or complaints.
  • Corresponding with all of our Vendors and maintaining a good relationship with them.
  • Maintaining a professional relationship with Doctors and Staffs.
