The Pro Training Seminar Group Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day to day operation of the Pro Training program and assisting with additional training functions within the realm of the SMP Corporate Training Center. This individual will work with our management and sales teams to manage the team of trainers that work together to develop a training schedule and present classes as written by our training development staff on established and emerging technologies that enable our technician customers to perform accurate, efficient diagnosis and proper vehicle repair.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide positive leadership to the PTS trainers
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with our customer groups
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with our sales force and other SMP employees
  • Establish a list of potential new employees and maintain a relationship with them
  • Produce an annual schedule of seminars to be performed
  • Identify and rectify any and all conflicting seminars to the satisfaction of all parties
  • Exercises good control over SMP expenses related to the presentation of PTS seminars
  • Be able to perform training classes as needed (fill in/pick up additional classes)
  • Assist with product evaluations, instruction sheet evaluations, and act as (or provide) a subject matter expert when needed
  • Assist or teach virtual and/or hands on training classes
  • Work with development staff to ensure highest level of customer satisfaction is attained
Working conditions:
  • Time is primarily focused doing general office tasks – email, phone calls, scheduling, reports, etc.
  • Occasional travel to evaluate and train instructors as well as meeting with customers is required
  • Evening hours will be required at various times (hosting training events, meeting with customers, etc.)
  • Weekend travel or work will be required at various times (customer events, complete scheduling, etc.)
  • Some light physical work will be required (moving components around at the training center)
Employment Requirements:
  • Genuine, positive leadership skills
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills
  • Courteous manners with the public
  • Good communication skills
  • Background in Automotive Vehicle Controls and Temperature Control systems
  • Proficient spoken and written English
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office – specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Self motivated
  • Accountable
  • Valid driver’s license
