Job Description
Fulton Schools of Engineering Office of Vice Dean of Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship is seeking a highly motivated and creative team player for a Project Manager, Research position.
The project aims to design, develop, and deliver a foundational approach to accelerate materials design and process optimization by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) tools integrated with large language models, simulating/modeling, and experimental validation. The implementation of new digital tools and approaches will enhance the speed of materials research, development, and manufacturing optimized for integration into key technologies and applications.
The Project Manager will work with Dr. Dai and team to plan, develop, organize, and execute against project requirements; identify and acquire necessary resources and coordinate efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with the award contract.
Working Environment
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. May require travel for stakeholder meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years related experience; two (2) of which are in project management.

  • Experience as a PgMP (Program Management Professional): Equivalent of 4 years of project management experience.
  • Experience in clarifying roles and responsibilities to ensure understanding of expectations; takes action to mitigate conflict; escalates serious project issues.
  • Strong skillsets to consolidate written reports and slide decks from multiple sources into clear, concise, and polished products.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of available project management applications and associated project specific technology requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of using standard project management practices, principles, techniques, and methods.
  • Evidence of a service-orientated attitude to problem solving.

Essential Duties
  • Plans, develops, implements, and manages a project team through complete task definitions and work requirement identification and assignments. Works closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to define project scope, strategy, budget, and outcomes; identifies critical resource expertise and targets appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcomes; organizes project team meetings.
  • Establishes and continually monitors/manages project expectations with team; assigns tasks and identifies issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness.
  • Prepares and maintains project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables, critical paths, and dependencies; re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding project status; prepares and responds to regulatory reporting/filings to ensure compliance. Manages and coaches project team members to ensure optimal outcomes; builds, develops, and maintains relationships vital to project success.
  • Proactively identifies, develops, and deploys solutions to improve effectiveness of project operations.
  • Utilizes knowledge of project purpose and scope in decision making and risk assessment, understanding impact on outcomes/success.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to effectively manage day-to-day activities including meetings and workshops.
  • Prepares and maintains project budget and resource projections. Proactively acts to overcome issues; uses authority appropriately and equitably.
