BrakeQuip is looking for a Supervisor of Engineering to lead a small team of associates to perform quality control and inspection of incoming parts and products; design and engineer new fittings, brackets and hose assemblies; maintain a database of CAD drawings (Solidworks); assist with warehouse operations and light production activities from time to time; and to lead the company’s efforts to achieve ISO 9001 certification. The engineering team is comprised of 2 – 3 associates.
BrakeQuip (www.brakequip.com) is a leading supplier of automotive tubes, hoses and related parts; with a strong network of distributors in the USA and over 50 countries worldwide. The company was founded in 1998 in Australia by Fred and Sandra Anderson, where they developed an innovative concept for making brake hoses to order at the point of sale, usually while the customer waited. The concept proved very successful, and in 2002 the Anderson’s moved the company to the United States. Today BrakeQuip remains a high growth, family owned business with tremendous growth prospects.
Responsibilities
· Maintain a repository of CAD / Solid works models and drawings.
· Reverse engineer hoses and fittings from samples and customer drawings.
· Work within internal and external standards such as SAE, ISO, JIS and DIN.
· Perform quality inspections on all incoming orders.
· Design, build, and test tools used in the manufacture of automotive plumbing systems.
· Assist in hiring and training new employees (we generally hire engineering interns)
· Improve internal processes and practices.
· Assist the Operations team with light production of hydraulic hose assemblies.
· Document internal processes and guide the company through ISO 9001 certification.
Requirements - All candidates must
· Have a degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Candidates with additional experience will also be considered.
· Understand how to read and create technical drawings.
· Be proficient with SolidWorks and Microsoft Office.
· Be able to operate basic measuring equipment such as calipers and Go/No-Go gauges.
· Work on their own and as part of a team.
· Have an interest in the automotive industry.
· Understanding of manufacturing processes and industry best practices.
· Understanding of fluid power systems.
· Ability to improve efficiency by scrutinizing existing processes.
· Knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing (or similar) beneficial.
· Ability to lead and educate interns / others
