Special Events / Rentals Administrator
Background: The Workhouse Arts Foundation, Inc. (WAF) is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation with a
mission to operate the Workhouse Arts Center (opening in 2008) with programs in the visual arts,
performing arts, arts education, and history through the repurposing of the former Workhouse
correctional facility. WAF’s budget is currently $4 million annually.
Summary Statement: Reporting directly to Director, Studio & Facility Operations, the Special Events &
Rentals Administrator (SERA) serves as a significant support individual to help manage the
comprehensive special events and rentals program for the Workhouse Arts Center. This position will
work with the Director, and the Special Events & Rentals Coordinator to oversee and manage the events
supporting the WAF’s mission through community engagement and fundraising for the arts, as well as
actively focusing on the rentals program for indoor and outdoor Workhouse rental spaces. The position
is full-time and requires 40 hours per week. Located in Lorton, Virginia, the WAF is a non-profit
dedicated to providing outstanding visual and performing arts, arts education and history programs, all
in a unique historic setting. The SERA will also undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the
Director, Studio & Facility Operations.

to engage more vendor involvement with the Community Markets, and by working with
the community to increase attendance at all the Community Markets.
o Assists Director, and the Special Events & Rentals Coordinator to oversee and manage the
special
events and rentals as scheduled throughout the year.
o Will work with community partners, vendors, and others, in the execution of the
special events and rentals.
o Will also oversee staff, part-time staff, and volunteers working on special events
and rentals, as appropriate.
o Participate in community out-reach activities as determined by the Director,
Studio & Facility Operations and the President/CEO.
o Participate in Fairfax County / Workhouse Arts Foundation, Inc., directed
activities regarding organizing Workhouse campus building storage capabilities.

o Provides general event task collaboration and support.
o Manages and actively solicits for rental events and engagements.
o Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Accountabilities: Satisfactory completion of this job will be evidenced by excellent attention to detail,

records, and working well as a team member, and by operating within the Workhouse approved budget.
Compensation/Benefits: Salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000, with a benefit package
that includes a health/dental insurance plan, a retirement plan, paid time off, and other employee
benefits.

Additional Notes: The workhours for this position are a function of work and support requirements
and directed by the Director, Studio & Facility Operations. The Workhouse business hours are 9:00 AM
to 5:00 PM. Some business meetings or special events will require working some weekends and
weeknights, as determined by the work load and by the Director, Studio & Facility Operations.
