Scarisbrick Hall School is seeking to appoint an Early Years Teaching Assistant for Reception.
JOB PURPOSE
RESPONSIBLE TO: EYFS Leadership team
To support the delivery of an innovative curriculum across the EYFS.
To support the delivery of our Education in Harmony with Nature ethos.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Minimum NVQ level 3 in Childcare and/or Teaching Assistant qualification equivalent
An excellent understanding of child development and how young children learn.
A passion for outdoor learning and its benefits.
Ability to provide outstanding childcare and education.
Outgoing, patient, positive and enthusiastic about working with children.
Be a good communicator that can use initiative and take direction.
Be able to support children’s behaviour positively and calmly.
A sound understanding of the Early Years Framework.
Experience of National phonics and numeracy strategies
Competent ICT skills
Evidence of CPD and up to date knowledge of child development and learning.
Desirable
Further qualifications up to and including QTS
Evidence of delivering literacy and numeracy strategies to individuals and small groups
Evidence of using ICT to enhance learning
Proven record of contributing to a successful team
Evidence of training and experience in supporting children’s with additional needs.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To work within a classroom environment to support the delivery of an excellent curriculum.
- To work independently and collaboratively with colleagues to support and deliver learning experiences and contribute to the development of learning programmes to facilitate excellent teaching and learning.
- Establish excellent relationships with children, acting as a positive role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
- Provide input to the planning and evaluation of learning activities for individuals to enable teaching staff to make informed decisions when developing their plans.
- Always ensure effective supervision and safety of the children, including educational visits.
- Monitor individual pupil’s progress, achievements and development and report these to support Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programmes for children.
- Liaise with parents and carers in conjunction with teaching staff to ensure effective communication concerning the pupils’ wellbeing and learning.
- Record information as specified by the teaching staff/line manager to ensure the schools information systems are maintained.
- Attend to the personal and physical needs of all children so that their health and wellbeing is maintained.
- Prepare and maintain learning resources and ensure that the classroom is kept tidy so that learning objectives are met in a safe learning environment, which complies with relevant health and safety requirements.
- Display and present children’s work, under the direction of teaching staff so that it enhances the classroom environment and celebrates achievement.
- Assist with the supervision of children, including before and after school and at lunchtimes, e.g. clubs, extra curriculum activities.
- Attend staff and other meetings and participate in staff training and development (on occasion held on a Saturday) and staff reviews as required.
Job Type: Full-time, term-time only (additional hours available during the school holidays)
