AIM – TO SUPPORT GP’S, PRACTICE MANAGER, & THE ENTIRE PRACTICE TEAM IN PROVIDING PATIENTS WITH A HIGH QUALITY PRIMARY CARE SERVICE

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Practice Manager / Assistant Manager to participate in the full range of practice administrative duties to ensure the smooth and effective running of the practice, and also to be familiar with practice protocols relating to the Quality and Outcomes elements of General Medical Services.

PATIENT RECEPTION

· Maintaining and operating the appointment system, receiving and direction of patients and monitoring the waiting area

· Maintaining and operating the repeat and acute prescribing systems, including the accurate recording of patients’ requests for prescriptions

· Filing and retrieval of patients’ medical records both manually and electronically

· Receiving and handling requests for home visits according to the practice protocol

· Responding to patients’ requests for results of investigations, following practice protocols

PATIENT ADMINISTRATION

· Maintaining the patient administration system, e.g. registration of new patients, changing addresses, checking current telephone numbers, filing of letters and results etc

· Ensuring accurate coding and scanning of information on clinical records following practice protocols

· Preparation of statistical information as directed by the GPs/Manager/Assistant Manager

· Arranging patient recall as directed by the GPs/Manager/Assistant Manager

PRACTICE ADMINISTRATION

· Secretarial duties including taking of messages, typing correspondence and mail distribution

· Assisting the Manager in the induction and training of new staff

· Assisting the Assistant Manager in maintaining supplies of stationery, and other practice sundries.

GENERAL

  • Any other duties which might be reasonably expected appropriate to the post, e.g., relating to: practice operation and development; risk management; patient and community services; human resources; premises and equipment; information and technology; population care, participating in ongoing training requirements…

Education / Experience

  • 5 GCSE - Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • IT literate, including Microsoft Office

Desireable Criteria

  • Customer Service Experience in an office environment

Holidays

  • 27 days per annum , increasing to 30 with 10 statutory and public holidays pro rata (t&C apply)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £22,308.00-£25,350.00 per year
