The Role
The Copyright Specialist supports all processes concerning clean transfer of title for our catalog purchases. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of Open On Sunday’s track database and overseeing the transfer of title after we purchase catalogs. This role ensures proper registration, protection, and compliance of copyright and intellectual property rights. The Copyright Specialist reports to the Senior Royalty Accountant.
Key responsibilities
· ingestion and maintenance of all new catalog metadata
· resolve copyright-related issues with internal and external stakeholders
· address emergent catalog ownership questions
· supporting quarterly compliance reporting for purchased tracks
Skills And Attributes For Success
● Task completion-oriented professional
● Experience with managing a large-volume tracks database, copyright registrations, recordation filings and general contract understanding
● Ability to plan and manage multiple project threads with varying priorities
● Communicating with business leadership and across payors/stakeholders
● A sense of urgency, decisiveness, and ability to work well under pressure
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree required
· 3 years of experience in Music Administration, Business Affairs and/or Legal team support
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of data analytics.
· Entertainment industry knowledge; must love music.
