About the Role

Is English your strength? Do you write bright headlines? Do you care passionately about accuracy? And have a strong interest in the news and sports (local and international)?

Then this job is a good fit for you. As an Executive Sub-Editor, you are required to work fast and stay calm under pressure. You are willing to be rostered to work on shifts, weekends and public holidays. The payoff? The adrenaline rush from getting a ringside view as news events unfurl.

Job Responsibilities:

• Write headlines, photo captions for online and print sports stories
• Fact check editorial content for online, print and interactives/graphics
• Work with the sports team on editorial packages, interactives, graphics
• Duties may include copytasting of wire sports stories, page layouts and special packages for major events like the Olympics and Fifa World Cup

Job Requirements:

• Excellent command of English, meticulous, an eye for accuracy and detail.
• Have good knowledge and keen interest in local and international sports.
• Have a passion for news and a keen awareness of current affairs.
• Enthusiasm, independence, resourcefulness and the ability to work under pressure.
• Have excellent editing and fact-checking skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently and without errors in a fast-paced environment.
• Be passionate about the details of how content is presented in print and online to make it more engaging for audiences.
• Able to work independently while remaining a good team player.
• Willingness to be rostered to work on shifts, weekends and/or public holidays.
