Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end accounts payable operations, from voucher creation to payment processing for primary client accounts.
  • Manage and process client billing using the Elite billing system.
  • Process billings, generate routine Work in Progress (WIP) reports and provide ad-hoc financial data as needed. Monitor outstanding/aged WIP and execute write-offs in alignment with company policy.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register within Cognos, such as handling asset additions, transfers, and disposals.
  • Prepare fixed asset reconciliations following International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) guidelines.
  • Assist in month-end closing activities by preparing and posting journals. Support the creation of monthly balance sheet schedules and undertake additional tasks related to accounts and administration as directed by management.
  • Support ship sale closing procedures, including the preparation of remittances (MT103), liaising with banks, and facilitating transfers from clients' accounts to office accounts.
  • Manage petty cash on an ad-hoc basis and collaborate with other offices to clear inter-office transactions on a monthly basis.
  • Fulfil other ad-hoc responsibilities as required by the organization.
  • Assist in internal audit procedures by reviewing financial records, evaluating processes, and providing requested documents for internal auditors.
  • Assist in external audit procedures by providing necessary documentation including inter-company reconciliations, facilitating communication with auditors and addressing audit queries.
  • Maintain a breach register for client monies to ensure compliance with SRA provisions and send quarterly updates to Partners.
  • Prepare weekly cash position, request for currency conversions and funding if needed.

Requirements

  • Accounting background, at least accounting degree or ACCA Level 3
  • 3 - 4 years' experience, preferably from legal industry
  • Experience in handling clients account, ship sales closing & billings is preferred
  • Meticulous and attentive to details
  • Proactive and resourceful
  • Good Excel knowledge, comfortable working with formulas, pivot table, and lookup
