About the Role

Working as part of an integrated ICAMHS multidisciplinary team, this position would be of interest to experienced professionals looking to move into a mental health specific role, and to less experienced applicants wishing to attain greater clinical proficiency in a supported environment.

Clinicians within the ICAMHS acute pathway cover the role of a community based child and adolescent mental health emergency service. As such, duties include risk assessment, short-term interventions, connection with community services and discussion about appropriate treatment pathways.

About the Team

We are a community based secondary mental health service providing specialist assessment and therapeutic interventions for infants, children and adolescents who experience serious mental health challenges. We have a strong emphasis on family involvement in the young person’s recovery journey.

As a community-based team, we deliver services Monday to Friday during office hours. With service users/ tangata whaiora based both locally and rurally, this role also provides an exciting opportunity to work closely with the communities in which people live.

About you

This role is open to a Registered Mental Health Professional who has worked with children, adolescents and their families in bi-cultural and/ or multi-cultural work practices.

Ideally you will have at least 2 years post registration experience, have an open mind, positive, passionate and with a strong desire to learn and grow. You will have sound acute assessment skills, be able to make decisions quickly and have community safety at the forefront of all decisions made. You will enjoy independent clinical work, while being adept at collaborating with the wider ICAMHS team and other services.
