Unit Assistant Duties :

• Make sure linen carts and supplies are adequate.
• Empty dirty laundry carts and replace clean laundry bags.
• Review the shower list, strip beds and remake with clean fresh linen.
• Calculate intake for residents
• Answer call lights. Notify CNA / Nurse as needed
• Keep hallways clean and free of clutter.
• Clear tables after meals and wash tables.
• Make sure all dirty dishes and trash from resident’s bedside tables are removed and wipe down tables
• Assist CNA’s by retrieving items as requested.
• Make Beds / or turn them down on 2

shift

• Assist transporting residents to dining room, activities, etc.
• Assist CNAs with drink cart
• Wash eyeglasses, turn TV’s on / off for residents, deliver a box of tissues, give a hand massage with lotion, brush their hair, polish nails
• One on one for restless residents or elopement risks (ONLY IF COMPLETED DEMENTIA TRAINING)
• Be sure every resident has a call light within reach

You may not :

• Transfer residents that are unable to transfer themselves or use mechanical lifts
• You may not assist in feeding residents
• You may not toilet or bathe residents
• You may not dress or undress a resident (you can put on shoes and socks or retrieve a sweater if they are cold)
