JOB OVERVIEW: A banquet houseman plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of banquets, events, and functions within hotels, resorts, or event venues. 

REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. They are responsible for setting up and breaking down banquet rooms according to event specifications. This involves arranging tables, chairs, linens, decorations, and any other equipment or furnishings needed for the event.

2. Handle and transport various equipment and supplies needed for events, such as audiovisual equipment, podiums, and props. They ensure that all equipment is in proper working order and set up according to the event requirements.

3. Assist guests with carrying luggage, locating event venues, and providing general information about the facility or event. They may also assist with seating arrangements and other guest needs during the event.

4. Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of banquet rooms and event spaces before, during, and after events. This includes vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and ensuring that all areas are neat.

5. Support banquet servers, bartenders, and other staff members by providing assistance as needed during events. This may involve refilling water glasses, clearing empty plates, or delivering food and beverages to tables.

6. Ensure the safety and security of guests and staff by following proper procedures for handling equipment, adhering to fire and safety regulations, and reporting any safety hazards or incidents to management.

7. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

8. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player. Ability to lift, bend, stoop, walk, push or pull heavy equipment, and stand for extended periods of time. Lifting may include equipment or furniture weighing up to 100 lbs. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions from supervisor.

Safety & Security:

The safety and security of our guests and associates is of utmost importance to Crescent. Every Crescent associate should adhere to the hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
