The New York Foundling is Hiring a Benefits Manager Near New York, NY

Overview:

The Benefits Manager is responsible for managing all day-to-day aspects of the New York Foundlings employee benefits programs. The Benefits Manager works closely with all members of the Human Resources department; they are supervised directly by the Vice President-Human Resources and indirectly by the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities:

The specific responsibilities of the Benefits Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating the benefits enrollment of new employees, and coordinating any changes to benefits enrollment requested by current employees, with assistance from the HR Assistants and HR Generalists;
  • Educating employees concerning benefits, including through presentations at Open Enrollment sessions and HR Orientations; ensuring that updates to benefits information is timely distributed among employees;
  • Overseeing the administration of the Foundlings Wellness Program, in consultation with the VP-HR, the HR Directors and HR Generalists;
  • Communicating with representatives from the Foundlings labor unions, applicable health insurers, disability insurance providers, 403(B) provider, and other benefits providers concerning benefits changes or enrollment;
  • Managing the Foundlings relationship with all applicable retirement plans; effectively communicating any requests for retirement benefits, as well as questions or changes thereto;
  • Coordinating the Foundlings response to any claim for unemployment benefits, in consultation with the VP-HR, HR Directors, HR Generalists, or Senior Generalist or HR Coordinator, or others; monitoring the Foundlings results in connection with unemployment claims; managing the Foundlings relationship with outside consultant for unemployment services;
  • Arranging for information concerning COBRA eligibility and enrollment to be transmitted directly and promptly to employees who leave the Foundlings employment;
  • Overseeing the Foundlings Tuition Reimbursement program;
  • Preparing reports of relevant HR data on a recurring, or as requested, basis; coordinating with HR Information Systems Analyst regarding any requested analysis of HR data; assisting with audits of HR data as requested or needed;
  • Coordinating, along with HR Directors and HR Assistants, the collection of annual performance evaluations for all employees;
  • As back up to the HR Systems Analyst, coordinating changes to TransitChek enrollment;
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of the Foundlings employee benefits offerings and advising the VP-HR and COO concerning potential changes to employee benefits offerings;
  • Maintaining current knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions; analyzing whether policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance with regulations; performing related research as requested;
  • Maintaining current knowledge of competitors benefits offerings and identifying or suggesting improvements to current offerings.
  • Educating program representatives regarding benefits policies and procedures; participating in HR-related trainings for program representatives; providing training to HR department staff as needed or recommended;
  • Overseeing file feeds and other technological requirements for successful electronic Open Enrollment;
  • Identifying and suggesting improvements and efficiencies in HR-related processes, including improvements to communications to employees and new hires about benefits offerings; and
  • Performing other designated duties and completing special projects as requested.

Qualifications:

Human Resources or related field preferred.

Other Requirements :

A positive, people-oriented personality and excellent writing skills necessary. 2 yrs human resources experience preferred.

Education Required:
Bachelors Degree from a U.S. accredited educational institution or Credential Evaluation for a non-U.S. educational institution
