The Registered Dietitian/Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) provides medical nutrition therapy, creating nutritional programs based on the health needs of clients in order to promote wellness.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Must possess a valid license/certification to practice dietetics, food & nutrition education, clinical nutrition, food service systems management, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in dietetics, food and nutrition, food service systems management, clinical nutrition, or related area. '
- Knowledge of the principles and practice of the latest nutrition research.
- Ability to evaluate the health status of clients and determine the most appropriate food choices for a client to improve overall health.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess patients’ and clients’ health needs and diet.
- Counsel patients on nutrition issues and healthy eating habits
- Monthly review of menus and snacks for appropriateness.
- Review and assist with dietary service plan.
