Gulf Bend Center is Hiring a Quality Assurance Specialist Near Victoria, TX

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: H.S. diploma or equivalent; three (3) years' experience in related field which includes healthcare quality management, development of procedures, medical record reviews and training and program auditing.

Preferred: Knowledge of healthcare compliance and healthcare quality management principles, HHSC regulations/standards and HIPAA.

DEGREE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED (IF APPLICABLE):

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:

1. Perform tasks related to Center-wide quality improvement, compliance, consumer rights protection, and safety.
2. Assist with the development and implementation of the quality management program (development of QM Plan and standardized review protocols) and other center plans as assigned.
3. Assist with the development and implementation of the corporate compliance program.
4. Conduct/facilitate reviews of clinical records and programs/departments to determine compliance with required standards/procedures.
5. Facilitate external reviews of programs by HHSC, Managed Care Organizations (MCO), etc.
6. Provide support to staff related to implementation of review protocols, completion of Plans of Corrections/Actions, assurance of rights, abuse/neglect reporting, HIPAA, Limited English Proficiency (LEP), and compliance with required standards/procedures.
7. Assist with the development/review/revision of Center procedures and forms.
8. Collect, compile, and analyze statistical data and writes narrative reports summarizing QA findings (trends, problems, recommendations), as well as produce graphs and spreadsheets of compiled data.
9. Assist in meeting federal or state data entry deadlines, such as but not limited to C.A.R.E. or CMBHS system.
10. Assist with concern/complaints and follow process or investigation protocols.
11. Review consumer death notifications for compliance protocols.
12. Monitor incident reports and medication incidents to identify trends and areas of risk to the Center.
13. Assist with monitoring reviews by all federal and state agencies or contracted providers for documentation and or clarification of services.
14. Must maintain regular and reliable attendance.
15. Comply with telework/remote agreement.
16. Use the trauma informed care approach when providing services and working with others.
  • Understands the Three E's of trauma-informed care.
  • Understands the Four R's of trauma-informed care.
  • Understands the six key principles of trauma-informed care.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and ENVIRONMENTAL CHECKLIST: All abilities required to perform the essential and marginal tasks of this job: Light lifting, under 15lbs., Light carrying, under 15lbs., Straight pulling, Walking, Standing, Sitting, Operating office equipment, Operating motor vehicle, Ability to see, Identify colors, Hearing (with aid), Ability to write, Ability to count, Ability to read, Simple grasping, and Ability to tell time.

All work site and environmental conditions that apply to this job: Travel by car 10% of time, Inside, Working closely with others, and Working alone

OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR CONDITIONS (specify):

  • Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. Liability insurance required.
  • Must be insurable by Center's liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business.
  • Good driving record as defined by Gulf Bend Center.
  • Must complete all CORE training requirements prior to the due date.
  • Must have computer experience to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must have good organizational skills to achieve multiple deadlines. Ability to type 40 wpm.
  • Must maintain regular attendance and reliability, which is critical to business operations. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm or agreed upon hours 100% of the time, to ensure consistency and completeness of the program's processes. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
