Position Overview:

Black Jack Baptist Church is in the Black Jack community a mile south of the Sardis Lake Dam in Batesville, Mississippi. The Church began in July 1979 as a Mission Church and moved into the current auditorium in March 2000. Black Jack Baptist is multi-generational, gracious, and very relational. We have people that attend regularly from the ages of 12 months to 84 years old.

Black Jack Baptist is praying and seeking a Pastor. Our previous Pastor was with the Church just short of 8 years and moved to Virginia where his fiancé is completing a 5-year residency. The Pastor should be a committed follower of Jesus Christ and sensed a call for the ministry. As Pastor, he should have a fervent desire to see others follow Jesus, lead the congregation in community outreach, and earnestly pursue the spiritual growth of the Church members through preaching and teaching God’s Word. The Pastor is the shepherd of the Church family and extends the love of Jesus through caring, counseling, guiding, and encouraging each member.

The following is a condensed list of Faith Articles supported at Black Jack Baptist Church.

· The Holy Bible was originally written, inspired by God and is whole in its entirety with no error.

· There is one and only one living and true God.

· The Holy Spirit is a Divine person equal with God the Father and God the Son.

· Jesus was born in a miraculous manner, born of a virgin and He is the Son of God.

· Salvation of sinners is wholly of grace gained only through Jesus’ blood shed as the atonement of our sins. All who are truly born again are kept by God the Father for Jesus Christ.

· Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water showing faith in following Jesus Christ.

· The Lord’s Supper is open to all Christians after self-examination and in commemoration of Jesus’ death.

· The great commission to evangelize the world was given to the Church as our mission by our risen Lord.

Duties & Responsibilities:

God’s Word should be our source of wisdom and discernment when it comes to the role of a Church Pastor. There is a great responsibility and high standard of personal conduct on the man called to lead, guide, and care for God’s people. The following Bible verses remind us of the Pastor’s responsibility.

· Jeremiah 2:8: First duty of the Pastor is to live their life as a Godly man.

· 2 Timothy 4:2: Preach the Word, be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and careful instruction.

· Acts 20:28: Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the Church, which was bought with His own blood.

· 1 Peter 5:2: Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.

· Ephesians 4:11-12: So, Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.

Most importantly, we see that the duties of a Pastor are perfectly demonstrated in the life of Jesus Christ. The role of a Pastor as shared in Jeremiah 2:8 is to be like Jesus in His love while inspiring the flock to love Christ and one another.

Qualifications & Experience:

Qualifications of the Pastor is found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Additionally, the following are listed for reference and reminder.

· Sensed call to Pastor from God

· Ordained/licensed into the ministry

· Strong knowledge of the Holy Bible, God’s Word

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Ability to deliver sermons that teach and grow the congregation

· Demonstrate leadership abilities while inspiring others

· Compassionate and able to provide support during difficult times

· Care for the wellbeing of Church members through prayer, visits, and other times as needed

· Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives

· Perform duties and tasks to aid in the continued growth of the Church

Benefits:

Salary is dependent on experience and familial needs of applicant. However, it should be noted that we hold the care and compensation of our Pastor to be the highest financial duty of our Church.
