Job Title: Curriculum, Assessment & School Improvement Coordinator

Reports To: Superintendent 

Evaluated By: Superintendent 

POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to coordinate the

  • Implementation of the state instructional standards, 
  • Districtwide improvement planning process, 
  • Adoption of instructional materials, 
  • District professional development program,
  • Administration of required statewide assessments,
  • District TAG program,

And to serve as an instructional coach/mentor as needed across the K-12 system.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Hold, or be able to obtain a valid Oregon Administrative License. Master’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.
  2. Background and Criminal History Clearance.
  3. A minimum of seven (7) years as a licensed educator. 
  4. Demonstrates high level of communication skills and meets District standards for oral and written language proficiency in English. 
  5. Skill in leadership and facilitation of work involving colleagues and administrators, including problem solving and conflict resolution. 
  6. Excellent organizational skills for effectively managing multiple tasks. 
  7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. 
  8. Extensive understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment and staff development requirements under state and federal education laws and regulations. 
  9. Understanding of strategic and school improvement planning and curriculum renewal procedures. 
  10. Ability to carry out tasks with minimum supervision.
  11. Understanding of computer assisted instruction. 
  12. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board or administration may deem appropriate and acceptable. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Communicate effectively in English in both oral and written form. 
  2. Promote a positive, safe and caring climate for learning; deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  3. Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to multicultural and multilingual values and environments.
  4. Assist in orientation of administrative staff with regard to federal, state, and district requirements for curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development. 
  5. Facilitate the development and implementation of District initiatives and priorities aligned with a rigorous instructional program that prepares students for success. 
  6. Assist with planning and implementation of a program of curriculum development and instructional materials evaluation and adoption for all subjects on a rotating schedule. 
  7. Ensure that school-level curricula and programs are aligned, coordinated and articulated to K-12 District curricula and programs. 
  8. Lead groups of specialized personnel and teachers through a series of collegial conversations and experiences to reach consensus on instructional goals and programs.
  9. Conduct staff development needs assessments and assists with implementation of a program of staff development for identified needs and other district initiatives. 
  10. Use a set of evaluative criteria and procedures consistent with District policy to determine the quality, utility, and availability of learning materials and resources as they pertain to the content core standards, credit by proficiency and graduation requirements. 
  11. Coordinate the student assessment program, including the analysis and distribution of results.
  12. Assist with development of Improvement Planning related to the Integrated Guidance for Six ODE Initiatives in compliance with state and federal laws and rules. 
  13. Assist in the completion and submission of applicable entitlement and competitive grants. 
  14. Coordinate the District Talented and Gifted(TAG) program.
  15. Prepare reports and keep the Superintendent informed with regard to assigned issues and programs. 
  16. Follow all safety rules and take all reasonable precautions to provide a safe and secure working environment for all department employees. 
  17. Demonstrate support for District Core Values, District Mission, District Strategic Plan, and Schoolwide Improvement Plans.
  18. Establish and maintain a positive and respectful learning environment and working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents/guardians, and community members. 
  19. Assist parents and community members as needed. 
  20. Participate in various meetings for the purpose of receiving information or sharing information and expertise with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians, the school board, and serve as a member of the District Site Council.
  21. Comply with professional development activities as required by the District. 
  22. Actively seek out and participate in professional development activities designed to improve professional competence.
  23. Hold expectations for high performance of self and supervised staff. 
  24. Assess results of performance for improvement on a regular basis. 
  25. Demonstrate computer literacy and operate software programs as related to job responsibilities. 
  26. Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law and District policy and regulations. 
  27. Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to a student, family, colleague, district patrons, financial, collective bargaining, personnel, and legal matters. 
  28. Follow all laws, District policies, rules, regulations, memos, announcements, and reasonable requests by proper authority. 
  29. Adhere to the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) Standards for Competent and Ethical Educators. 
  30. Maintain regular attendance at work and work activities, and is punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.

 OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. This position is performed primarily indoors in school buildings and offices, although some outdoor work or supervision may be required. 
  2. In cases in which the employee is required to travel between sites, the employee is responsible for his/her own travel and will be reimbursed for approved mileage. 
  3. Evenings and/or extended work hours or days are often required. 
  4. Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student or employee illness or injury. 
  5. May be required to obtain a First Aid and/or CPR Card and serve as a Delegated Caregiver or Designated First Aid Provider.
  6. Occasionally performs other duties as required by the supervisor. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Current work year of 10 months. Salary, benefits and working conditions as described in the contract between Corbett School District and Administrator.

Regulations concerning personnel evaluation.
