Bake My Day is Hiring a Baker's Assistant Near Mobile, AL
We are accepting applications for a bakery assistant.
The right person will have a willingness to learn about the daily bakery functions and operations and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Hourly wage is commensurate to experience.
We are a family owned and operated bakery with two locations in Mobile. We opened our first location in 2012 in Spring Hill and our second location in 2022 in midtown Mobile. We offer scratch-baked cakes, cookies, squares, pound cakes and other sweets. We also have a savory menu filled with take & bake casseroles, grab & go salads and we serve a variety of hot lunch offerings everyday.
Hours may vary between weekday and/or weekend shifts. Applicants must have a current food handler’s certification and may be required to obtain a ServSafe Manager's Certification. Prior baking experience is a PLUS. This job has physical demands including bending, stretching, lifting up to 25-40 pounds, grabbing items/packaging through range of motion, and standing for extended periods.
This position may perform work at either location depending on our needs.
Responsibilities of this role:
- Bake a variety of items from our sweets menu.
- Bake and develop new items when called upon to do so.
- Be willing to adapt to change.
- Mix cake icings and ice cakes.
- Willingness to continually learn and develop new skills.
Skills needed for this role:
- Must be able to follow recipes; weigh and measure ingredients with accuracy to achieve professional baked goods.
- Experience with cake decorating such as applying buttercream.
- Experience as a baker is a plus.
- Understanding of food safety practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and solve problems.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Must work well with others as well as work well independently.
- Must be proactive and take initiative without constant oversight and instruction.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
