WHAT YOU’LL DO
Summit Point is currently seeking a Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a Safety and Compliance Specialist at Summit Point Training Facility, your role would be crucial in ensuring that the high-energy, potentially high-risk training activities at Summit Point are conducted safely and in strict adherence to legal and ethical standards. This position requires a background in safety management, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
  1. Safety Program Development and Implementation:
    • Design and implement comprehensive safety programs tailored to the specific risks and requirements of the training activities conducted at the facility.
    • Update and revise safety policies and protocols to reflect changes in regulations or operational needs.
  2. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure all training activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations pertinent to training operations (such as OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other relevant authorities).
    • Monitor compliance with all safety, health, and environmental laws and regulations.
  3. Risk Management:
    • Conduct detailed risk assessments for all training scenarios and facilities.
    • Develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks associated with high-speed driving courses, tactical training exercises, and other specialized training operations.
  4. Incident Investigation and Reporting:
    • Lead investigations into any incidents or accidents on the premises.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and reports for internal use and compliance purposes.
  5. Training and Certification:
    • Ensure that all staff, including trainers and trainees, are properly trained and certified in relevant safety protocols.
    • Develop and deliver training modules on safety compliance, emergency procedures, and risk management.
  6. Emergency Preparedness:
    • Oversee and regularly update emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation routes, medical response plans, and disaster recovery strategies.
    • Conduct regular drills to ensure readiness and effective response to emergencies.
  7. Facility Safety Inspections:
    • Regularly inspect training facilities and equipment to ensure they are in good condition and comply with safety standards.
    • Recommend upgrades or changes to facility design to enhance safety.
  8. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from trainees to top management, about safety priorities and compliance issues.
    • Liaise with external regulatory bodies and inspection agencies as required.
  9. Safety Culture Advocacy:
    • Foster a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
    • Encourage continuous improvement in safety practices through feedback and collaborative initiatives.
Required Qualifications: .
  • 2 years of experience in safety management or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field is desired.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credentials are highly desirable.
  • This position requires physical requirements may include the ability to move around large training facilities, inspect equipment and environments, and occasionally handle emergency responses.
  • Experience with risk assessments, safety audits, compliance checks, and training staff on safety protocols.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for preparing reports, conducting training sessions, and interacting with employees at all levels, including management and regulatory agencies.
  • Familiarity with safety management software and common office applications like Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to pass a Background Check and drug screening.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
