Job Description

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you would be accountable for performing and leading the engineering, development, and execution of various control system applications that Cardinal Systems delivers and supports for our clients.

Qualifications

· Preferred - Bachelor’s Engineering Degree (Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical/Mechatronics/Computer Science), from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education

· Required - 5 years of Industrial Automation/Control System Engineering experience

· Required - Experience with Industrial Automation and Control Systems (PLCs, HMI Applications, Communication protocols, Instrumentation, etc.)

. Required - Working knowledge of standard engineering documentation for Control Sytems: Control Narrative, Cause & Effect, Station Protection Matrix, Data Maps, etc.

· Required - Experience with Rockwell CLX PLC platforms and Rockwell FTV HMI solutions.

· Required - Experience with AVEVA System Platform HMI solutions (Wonderware)

· Required - Experience with process instrumentation: Flow, Temperature, Pressure, Density, etc.

. Required - Experience with various types of process equipment: Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Motor Controls, Pressure Control Valves, Motor Operated Valves, Level Measurement, etc.

· Required - Advanced level understanding of industrial protocols such as Modbus (serial and ethernet), Ethernet/IP, etc.

· Required - 5 years Pipeline/Terminal/Oil/Gas industry experience

. Required - Valid Driver’s License and the ability to travel up to 35% of the time.

Job Responsibilities

· As a Senior Engineer of Controls, you are accountable for performing and leading engineering design and implementation activities for various Control System Projects.

· The Senior Controls Engineer can serve as lead controls engineering resource on multiple projects simultaneously while also being responsible for supporting existing controls systems to ensure safe and reliable system operation for our clients.

· Perform project related work in a manner to ensure projects stay within budget and schedule

· Assist with the management of vendors and contractors by participating in developing bid packages, reviewing proposals, reviewing statements of works, creating requisitions, reviewing invoices, etc.

· Serve as a mentor and resource to less experienced engineers to help meet project objectives

· Define test plans and methodologies to ensure control system solution functions and performs as intended and meets requirements

· Responsible for ensuring control system design is properly documented to support development, implementation, purchasing, and maintenance using drawings, bills of material, data maps, and other related documents

· Lead troubleshooting and issue resolution of problems related to controls systems, respond to inquiries related to the current operation of the controls solution and participates in incident analysis.

· Work extended hours, as required, including nights and weekends or during periods of inclement or adverse weather conditions. While this is not required very often, our clients typically operate all day, every day (24 x 7 x 365)
