About the opportunity SWCA is seeking a
Principal Project Manager for our Houston, TX office location. You will have a broad range of skills to work with a team lead/support permitting efforts in the transmission, power generation, mitigation, and oil and gas markets. The position requires proven experience with all phases of project development including initial constraints analysis, permitting, preconstruction planning, construction, and post-construction operations and maintenance. This position requires the ability to work independently and coordinate with large project teams to support senior project management throughout all phases of a project's life-cycle.
This is a full-time, regular status position with ability to be a Hybrid employee.
What you will accomplish - Serve as Project Manager or task lead in preparing proposals and key aspects of environmental planning documents, including pre-application activities, project planning, and developing project descriptions with supporting documentation.
- Lead or support projects of varying size and complexity.
- Collaborate closely with SWCA senior project managers on larger energy projects.
- Lead or support the preparation of Regulatory Permit Applications for agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other State Environmental Protection Agency permits.
- Manage and lead project teams working on mitigation, oil and gas, generation, and transmission projects.
- Act as the regulatory/permit compliance liaison between agencies and clients.
- Effectively communicate and proactively engage with diverse project stakeholders, including regulatory agents, field crews, trade workers, and third parties, regarding project status, schedules, and compliance issues.
- Cultivate new relationships and support the development of client capture plans.
- Mentor and develop junior staff to support their professional growth.
- Utilize strong organizational, communication, and graphical skills in written and verbal communication.
Experience and qualifications for success Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an environmental-related field or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in permitting and natural resources.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a project manager.
- Experience in energy generation, transmission, and/or oil and gas industries.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word).
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local permitting laws and processes.

An employee in this Houston, TX position can expect a salary of $107,016/year - $139,776/year. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
