Job Description:
We are seeking a Principal Database Administrator to join our talented team focused on enhancing and modifying existing software systems. The successful candidate will provide crucial database administration for high-priority infrastructure and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Administer servers in cluster and container environments running Linux and Solaris.
- Architecture and Maintenance: Design database architecture, install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot databases.
- Database Tasks: Perform administrative and maintenance tasks on Oracle and PostGRES databases.
- Installations and Upgrades: Plan, coordinate, and execute database installations, upgrades, and patches.
- Support Requests: Respond to database-related work requests, including system maintenance, engineering analysis, and integration efforts.
- Documentation: Maintain and update design and database schema documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: BS Degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience, or 16 years of equivalent experience without a degree.
- Certification: Must have or obtain a current DODI 8570.01-M IAT Level II Certification within the first 60 days of employment.
- Operating Systems: Experience with Solaris and Linux.
- Database Experience: Proficient with Oracle and PostGRES databases, including versions 12c and higher.
- Tools and Techniques: Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), DataGuard, RMAN for backup and recovery, SQL, PLSQL, OPatch, and database/query tuning.
- Skills: Ability to multi-task, strong self-starter, team player, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong customer service abilities.
Desired Skills:
- Scripting: Proficiency with scripting languages such as sh, csh, bash, Python, and Perl.
- SUN Cluster: Experience with SUN cluster environments.
- Compliance: Experience with Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA) compliance.
