MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of CCI & SIR is to offer the highest quality and professional, Partial Hospital Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and Outpatient services.

This is accomplished through the strict adherence to the highest ethical standards of care and policies and procedures set forth by the California Department of State of Health Services and the Joint Commission.

  • CCI & SIR ensures all clients are treated with compassion, respect, and dignity regardless of race, creed, age, sex, handicaps, or sexual orientation.
  • CCI & SIR employees are competent and responsible personnel who adhere to a strict code of professional ethics which include but are not limited to the prohibition of fraternization with patients, exploitation of clients, or any criminal behaviors.
  • CCI & SIR provides clients with accurate and complete information regarding the available services including the program rules, regulations, goals and objectives of the program.
  • Appropriate availability of alternative treatment modalities is made at any time before during or after treatment if they are requested or the client’s needs are out of the scope of our practice.
  • CCI & SIR will ensure that discharge from treatment is conducted in accordance with California rule standards.
  • CCI & SIR provides both California and Joint Commission environment of care standards.
  • CCI & SIR will take all necessary and appropriate measures to maintain individual client records and information in a confidential and professional manner.
  • CCI & SIR strives to maintain positive relations with the surrounding community and pursues every reasonable action to encourage responsible client behaviors and community safety.

SUMMARY

The Milieu Manager is responsible for providing direct services and supportive contacts to the client and/or their families when necessary, creating a welcoming environment for new intakes so they can “tuck in” to treatment, which is supportive to the recovery of the client and their engagement to the treatment process. He/she also functions as an advocate for the client, seeing that appropriate services are provided and assists the client in receiving these services as appropriate. The Milieu Manager manages Crisis Intervention when necessary and makes the appropriate evaluated decision for medical/emergency intervention.

Age of Patient Population Served: Adult (18 & older)

Population Served: Person’s meeting DSM5 criteria for substance use disorders with or without cooccurring psychiatric illness, and psychiatric illness with or without substance use disorders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct services (i.e., participates in/with individual/group/family contacts, professional inservice training, and community education services, etc.) at a rate that achieves or exceeds the CCI & SIR minimum direct service standard as established annually.
  • Work cooperatively with other community resources and referral sources to coordinate services to clients.
  • Assisting in the assessment of area needs for mental health, substance abuse, and program services.
  • Goes out into the community working with clients as well as in agency office.
  • Good writing skills which enable one to accurately chart client progress and interaction during contact.
  • Communicate clearly and assertively with clients and staff.
  • Lecture in a large and/or small group setting.
  • Participates in CCI & SIR 24-hour Emergency Services, which includes availability for back-up rotation coverage for after hours, weekends, or holiday emergencies.
  • Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Promotes individual professional growth/development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education/skills competency; supports department goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as required.
  • When required to transport patients:
  • Prior to transporting patients, ensure that there are no alert signals active (i.e., check engine light, etc.) and that tires are properly inflated in accordance with manufacturer standards.
  • Accompany and transport patients as assigned.
  • Arrives promptly and ensures patients prompt arrival for appointment.
  • Follows vehicle operation rules.
  • Practices defensive driving techniques
  • can verbalize protocol for transportation safety and for management of out-of-control behaviors.
  • Reports concerns and/or issues related to client’s transportation to Operations Director, Sr. Milieu Director and/or Program Director.
  • Assist Directors in assigning housing when necessary
  • Ensure that Intake into housing checklist is initiated and client has been given an orientation to treatment and a client handbook
  • Contacts family to confirm admission when necessary and answers any program related questions or redirects to a Sr. Director.
  • Create and send out a client admission summary with list of items completed and pending
  • When facilitating crisis intervention: [BIRP]: Behavior: what happened (objectively; Intervention: utilize behavior tools; Response: Client’s response; Plan
  • Coordinates and attends different house meetings and bring any issues up to house managers that need to be addressed

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education, Training, and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in behavioral health care, preferred.
  • Attainment of at least 18 years of age
  • A Health Screening with negative TB Test Results
  • Current CPR/ First Aid certification.
  • D.L. or Government I.D.
  • Should be experienced in the field of drug and alcohol and co-occurring disorder treatment in

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of industry standards as related to the position of Milieu Manager/management of client housing operations.
  • Basic knowledge of PC software programs, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
  • Accurately and timely enters clinical documentation using electronic medical records (EMR) software.
  • Written and oral communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic
  • Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile situations such as when verbally or physically confronted in an aggressive manner
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision in an unstructured environment with multiple demands
  • Must possess a reading and writing level that provides for clear expression and/or understanding of assignments related to job description.
  • Ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the facility

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand or sit for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The job requires frequent contact with water (hand washing and cleaning) and working with body fluid and hazardous chemicals. When under these working conditions, OSHA standards and universal precautions must be followed always. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal to high volumes of stress.
