Overview

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Utility Helper is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the Distribution Center. This position includes routine cleaning, dusting, mopping, trash removal and compacting, and inspections inside and outside the warehouse. The position will handle special cleaning projects based on the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned)

• Perform cleaning and janitorial duties for the Distribution Center.
• Set priorities and maintain a cleaning schedule based on the needs of the Distribution Center.
• Inspect battery areas for exposed copper and report non-complaint cables on chargers and batteries daily.
• Wipe down battery chargers.
• Inspect that empty pallet stacks meet storage compliance guidelines for spacing/ height daily.
• Remove empty pallets in the active pick locations daily.
• Ensure that extension cords do not create trip hazards.
• Ensure propane tanks are stored appropriately and equipment is plugged in and charging daily.
• Inspect that nothing is leaning against posts, racks, stacks, or walls daily. Correct and report observations.
• Gather, bag, and recycle shrink film, cardboard, and trash in the receptacles throughout warehouse daily.
• Dust, clean, and maintain the personnel protective equipment storage shelves and PPE containers used in the battery area.
• Dust, clean, and maintain emergency eye wash stations including expiration date and seal inspections.
• Clean out garbage cans, safety cones, and warehouse mirrors.
• Sweep and maintain certain aisles and docks as needed (ex. reserve aisles, bulk dock, H3 room etc.).
• Report needs for repairs and supplies to management.
• Handle any special cleaning or warehouse maintenance project assigned by Managers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High School or GED equivalent required.
• Some custodial experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Able to lift 50 lbs., bend and lift frequently and work in a dusty environment, as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment. Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion.

• High noise levels in certain parts of the plant
• High humidity and hot temperatures
• Required PPE in the manufacturing area (shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection)
