    Position Salary Range: $81,573.03- $103,334.28 per year
    Starting Pay: Although our full pay range is included above, the budgeted hiring range for this position is $81,573.03 to $92,453.65
  • Hybrid: 70% Remote, 30% onsite

The Objective: You will develop, implement, and manage a statewide public policy plan and robust outreach strategy through the 501c4 organization and electoral program. You will plan and coordinate strategic outreach and political efforts to advance legislative and electoral campaign objectives. You will be responsible for the development and execution of public affairs events including legislative conferences, lobby days, fundraisers, and candidate workshops. You will lead the Public Affairs team in developing plans, defining targets, and identifying resources needed for the success of PPRM’s public policy agenda.

Snapshot: Your days will be a mix of in person and virtual coalition-building and strategic direction of PPRM’s policy priorities, including direct supervision of up to three staff members. You will travel to the state Capitol Building regularly and within our region and nationally occasionally. You will manage your work hours to include some evenings and weekends.

Primary Areas of Responsibility/Essential Functions:
Key Member of and Collaborator with the Public Affairs Team: You are a leader, strategically engaging team members and jumping in quickly as an individual to add to the effectiveness of our advocacy work. You are an engaged team player and are adept at collaborating across levels, both internally and externally. To do this, you will:

  • Serve as member of PPRM Public Affairs team; responsible for developing and implementing activities to be included in PPRM’s Public Affairs strategic plan.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Public Affairs budget.
  • Coordinate regularly with the Public Affairs Team in developing legislative strategy and activities at the grassroots level to advance PPRM’s public policy agenda.
  • Work closely with the lobbying team in the state to create and implement an effective legislative agenda.
  • Coordinate with the Communications and Media Team to ensure PPRM’s messaging is consistent to all media outlets, acting as a trusted spokesperson and amplifying Planned Parenthood’s voice.
  • Coordinate with the Legislative and Political Director to identify key legislative and electoral targets and develop and implement strategic grassroots activities to advance PPRM’s objectives in these areas.

Leads Political work: You skillfully and collaboratively strategize to advance PPRM’s mission with the political support of legislators and our coalition partners. You lead the development and implementation of department strategic plans and have a key role in determining how to pair action in alignment with aims, specifically around our policy and legislative goals. You have an eye toward organization that allows you to track and prioritize work and assets accordingly. To do this, you will:

  • Develop political and policy plans for increasing public affairs capacity.
  • Develop measures of success for the political and policy plan, providing regular progress and outcome reports to the Public Affairs team, Board members, and other identified groups.
  • Direct and oversee staff. Supervise field organizing staff in identifying and recruiting members, activists, and volunteers; managing phone banking, canvassing, and community events; educating and preparing grassroots activists for legislative and/or electoral activities; and other activities related to grassroots development and mobilization.
  • Oversee the development, enhancement, and maintenance of distinct supporters for both the 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations. Recommend appropriate grassroots activities for each organization.
  • Identify opportunities for coalition building and participate in coalitions and partnerships to further the public policy goals of PPRM. Skillfully manage the important balance between advancing coalition goals while maintaining PPRM’s vision.
  • Develop, organize, and implement lobby days, advocacy events, and other opportunities for recruiting and demonstrating grassroots support.
  • Participates in the development of issue briefings, materials, and other resources to prepare staff and volunteers when visiting legislators and other key decision-makers.
  • Provides personnel management, development, and supervision for all field staff, including hiring, defining job objectives and skill set requirements, training, performance reviews, and discipline as necessary

Abortion Care: We all work in abortion care, whether it is referrals, information, education, counseling, performing, scheduling, etc. In this role, you’ll be supporting freedoms to utilize abortion as a form of contraception and working towards legislation to make and keep this a legal freedom.
