ABOUT SURFACE MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS:

Surface Measurement Systems (SMS) is a technological market leading manufacturer of advanced scientific instruments for solids characterisation via adsorption science. We are recruiting a PhD Chemical Engineer/Physical Chemist to join our science team in Allentown Pa. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company with offices in the USA, UK, Germany, China and India. SMS instruments are used to characterise all types of solid-state materials from MOF’s to pharmaceutical powders to aircraft composites. 100’s of the world’s leading companies & universities use them including NASA, IBM, Google, MIT, Pfizer, Astra-Zeneca

THE ROLE:

As a PhD scientist in the Application Science team you will be required to:

  • Provide scientific leadership on DVS and IGC SEA, and other adsorption science products
  • Provide technical and scientific support for SMS Sorption instrumentation
  • Perform laboratory-based characterisation of materials for our global customers
  • Develop advanced scientific skills in sorption instrumentation and advanced materials characterization
  • Able to write and give scientific papers and presentations to customers and scientists
  • Work scientifically with the sales staff on discussing and meeting customer science needs

THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will be a PhD Chemical Engineer/Physical Chemistry and you will be:

  • Experienced in the advanced characterisation of materials, such as porous solids or complex organic materials, with scientific publications demonstrating your knowledge/skills
  • Able to write and give scientific papers and presentations
  • Hands on experimental laboratory scientist with strong instrumentation skills
  • Happy to work with world leading universities and global corporations- our customers
  • Regular travel to meetings and conferences, meeting new people globally
  • Excellent communicator at all levels
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work together with customers collaboratively
  • Be rewarded for your effort and work in a business keen to progress talented staff

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
