Job Goal: Provide preschool program functions including screening, assessment, classroom teaching and home teaching.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BA/BS degree in Early Childhood, Education, Human Development, or other related field OR similar qualifications OR
- AA degree or similar qualifications
- Two years post high school early childhood education training and/or significant successful experience in working with preschool children and their families.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a rural environment on a home instruction basis.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to special education preschool setting.
- Knowledge of programs and services for handicapped individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team concept.
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement in critical or adverse situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing.
- Pass a criminal history fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
- Must pass physical.
- Assists Special Education Director, in assessment of children with suspected developmental delays.
- Develops individual education plans (IEP) goals and objectives with Special Education Director and parents.
- Develops weekly learning activities, which correspond to the IEP goals and objectives.
- Organizes and conducts home instruction to incorporate skills across all developmental domains.
- Maintains regular contact with school personnel and support staff.
- Participates regularly in staff meetings, in-service programs, workshops and seminars.
- Works cooperatively with parents to plan and implement weekly learning activities, which correspond to IEP goals and objectives; plans with and provides direction to assigned paraprofessionals, if any.
- Respects the unique qualities of each family within their caseload.
- Maintains flexibility in working with families and home-based program.
- Maintains awareness of the total needs of young children (i.e. medical, social, environment).
- Maintain knowledge of community resources and services available to young children.
- Maintains a working knowledge of developmental sequences and effectively applies information to instruction; carries out developmentally appropriate activities in classroom.
- Conveys pertinent information to families regarding child's developmental needs and progress with the program.
- Maintains accurate data collection; prepares and completes required forms and records.
- Implements an effective behavior management strategy for each student.
- Organizes instructional environment behavior management strategy for each student.
- Works effectively with an MDT and other professionals.
- Communicates program goals to other professionals, in formal and informal settings.
- May assist with preschool screenings.
- Relates pertinent information to supervisor.
- Required to travel to conduct home instruction.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Pay: $28.27 OR $22.38 DOQ
