In this impactful role, you will lead with purpose by overseeing daily library operations, optimizing efficiency through the creation and revision of floor schedules.
Additionally, you will inspire and develop staff by recruiting, training, and mentoring them, fostering their professional growth.
Ensuring accountability, you'll review and approve timesheets to maintain accurate records of staff hours and contributions.
You will work in coordination with the library manager, co-supervisor, and librarians to assess and identify programming needs for the branch.
As a Person in Charge (PIC) , you will also be one of the point p eople in critical situations, assisting in de-escalation and responding to emergencies to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons and staff.
Collaboration and innovation are key aspects of this role as you work closely with the co-supervisor, assistant supervisor, library manager, and librarians, contributing insights to shape the library's direction.
Creative problem-solving is essential, and you will address daily operational challenges, proactively communicating with other departments as needed.
Active engagement is a priority, with a minimum of 10% of your time spent working alongside employees, leading by example.
Success Requirements :
To thrive in this role, you must bring a minimum of two years of successful supervisory experience , a background in library services or customer service, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity.
Your adaptability, engaging interpersonal skills, and ability to foster a team environment that motivates team members are crucial.
A deep understanding of library operations is essential for success.
