Introduction

The Haymarket Gainesville Library is looking for a passionate, imaginative, and forward-thinking Youth Services Librarian to join our dynamic team. This role is best suited to a creative individual with strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude who can design programs for children, teens, and families. The right candidate will have a dedicated commitment to promoting the love of reading and can balance the many library needs of our diverse community. About This Role:

• Assists with, plans and conducts library programs and collaborates with staff to present weekly story times, programs, tours, and outreach for youth of all ages and their families.
• Assists patrons of all ages at public service desks providing information and circulation help, readers advisory and technology assistance.
• Assists with collection maintenance, maintaining Children’s and Teen items.
• Oversees teen volunteers both year-round and during the summer; includes training, scheduling, and assigning tasks to teen volunteers.
• Create eye-catching displays and promotional materials to promote the library’s physical collection and online resources in support of youth programming.
• Represents Prince William Public Libraries at outreach events.

• Experience planning and conducting successful library programs for children and teens.
• Experience providing reader’s advisory to children, teens, and families.
• Experience planning and conducting story times that include/demonstrate the concepts of early literacy.
• Experience at a public service desk providing information and circulation help and assisting with library technology.
• Experience creating displays, passive programming, and promotional materials to support the library’s physical and digital collections and resources.
• Experience supervising teen volunteers and working with teens to schedule and assign tasks.
