Summary
Funding Specialist
Position Highlights:
* Responsible for assessing patient eligibility for funding programs such as Florida Medicaid and Social Security Disability. Assists patients and families as they navigate through the application process and acts as a liaison between the patient and these governmental agencies. Maintains correspondence with internal departments regarding the status of the patient's funding. Adheres to compliance standards to ensure timely filing of applications to secure funding for the institution. Acts as a subject-matter expert for Medicaid related questions and provides educational training as necessary.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct patient financial and medical screenings to determine which possible funding programs to apply and assist the patient with the application process.
* Submit bills to the Department of Children and Families to activate Medicaid and update the accounts in Soarian to the correct financial class to ensure correct billing.
* Review medical records to determine a patient's level of disability in order to qualify for funding programs.
* Corresponds with patients and other departments regarding the patient's status, need for prescriptions, and benefit eligibility.
Credentials and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree
* Minimum three (3) years' experience working in healthcare or social services related field.
* In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, seven (7) years' experience working in Healthcare or a social services field may be considered.
Preferred Experience:
* Prior experience and knowledge of the criteria for community programs such as Medicaid and Social Security Disability
* Sufficient medical knowledge to accurately access eligibility for funding programs.
