Our law firm is growing and we are looking for a sharp family attorney who will zealously represent our clients in all areas of family law. You’ll assist individuals in a variety of situations such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations. $135,000 - $150,000

• Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
• Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients
• Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move files through the civil litigation process
• Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed
• Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current

• Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants
• Manage full case-handling responsibilities from inception through resolution
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on issues relating to ongoing or potential cases
• Draft and review initial pleadings, motions, briefs, and other pleadings
• Appear in Court to represent clients
• Prepare clients and cases for trial
• Interact with clients and work with experts
• Cultivate relationships with the firm's existing and future clients

• Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants
• Active membership with the ABA (American Bar Association)
• Bachelor’s degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are required
• At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property) is necessary

• Licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia
• Must have at least three years of family law litigation experience (This is non-negotiable)
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills
• Must be familiar with Google Drive and G-Suite products

Preferred Qualifications:

• Family Law experience is a must!
• MyCase (case management system) experience is highly desired
• Estate Planning
• Must be a "TEAM" player
