The Opportunity :

UCF is seeking to fill multiple Electrician I roles. Candidates for this job posting will be considered for additional vacancies in this department. These positions provide essential support for the operational maintenance and sanitation of the campus in an effort to provide a safe, functional, clean, efficient, and attractive living and learning environment. At this level, the incumbents have basic skills in electrical systems. The employees will assume on-call responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Perform planned scheduled work or as assigned by the supervisor defined as preventive maintenance (PM)/predictive maintenance (PDM) geared toward proactively identifying potential failures or preventing failures.

• Conduct PM repair (PMR) which are repairs of defects found during a (PM or PDM).

• Conduct corrective repairs in reaction to a user reporting issues to restore functionality.

• Locate and correct power failures and electrical malfunctions. Maintain and conduct minor repairs to fire alarm systems. Make emergency electrical repairs.

• Perform project work defined as work performed in conjunction with Facilities Improvement programs, Capital Improvement programs, or work that results in an upgrade to the facilities.

Minimum Qualifications :
Completion of an approved electrician apprenticeship program; or a high school diploma and 2 years of appropriate experience. Appropriate vocational or technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant toFla. Stat. 112.219(6)

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience performing planned electrical trade work.

• Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, and altering wiring, power appliances, light machinery, and electrical circuits.

• Experience installing and maintaining electrical motors, generators, and other electrical components.

• Working knowledge of trades classifications and functions including tools, materials, and task-specific sequencing required for maintenance, sanitation, and repairs.

• Ability to comprehend and support all applicable Federal, State, and local safety rules and regulations, including OSHA, Dept. of Health, and the Bureau of Fire Safety.

• Proficient in using various computer programs including and/or equivalent to Microsoft Office suites and the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).

• Possess a working knowledge of preventative maintenance in areas such as electronic and electrical components.

Health Assessment Required:

UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
