Your office will be located in downtown Juneau on the first floor of City Hall. Additional hours will be required when needed.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING As the Revenue Officer, a key position in the Treasury Division, you will direct CBJ’s accounts receivable and property tax revenue billing, collections, and sales tax filing activities. Duties include: Lead a team of seven revenue and tax staff. Provide professional accounting and financial management support to the Treasury staff.Ensure that adequate system and operational controls exist to accurately and timely bill amounts due.Ensure accuracy and reconciliation of billing subsystem activity to general ledger accounting.Train staff and educate the public on the application of property taxes, sales taxes, and other municipal revenues. Resolve complex inquiries from taxpayers and make determinations on the application of the tax code.Maintain CBJ’s sales tax and business personal property tax audit programs.Develop and implement policies and procedures necessary to enforce compliance with collections.Represent the Treasury and Finance Department at public meetings and outreach events related to billing, collections, and sales and property taxes.Ensure the preparation of necessary work papers, year-end journal entries, analytical review, or other pieces necessary for the annual financial reports, and work with the auditors as needed.Assist the Finance Department staff and other departments with revenue accounting and reporting issues.Understand and assist with the interactions of the Treasury Division’s operating subsystems.
