VIKAND is the world leader in providing medical and healthcare technology support to the maritime industry including vacation island destinations, offshore energy, commercial shipping and fishing, luxury yachting, luxury residential ships, and cruise lines.

The primary responsibility of the BMET is the maintenance of clinical equipment through the performance of inspection, assessment, testing, calibration, troubleshooting and repair with minimal supervision. In this position, the In-house BMET will be responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance and repair services of medical equipment at our facility located in Dania Beach.

The ideal BMET will live in South Florida vicinity within 1-hour's commute from our office near FLL airport and have dependable transportation.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a background check, apply for and be eligible for TWIC and Port ID cards.
  • Must be able to work Mon-Fri from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Must have reliable transportation, such as a car, SUV or truck.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English. 
  • Associate degree in biomedical Electronics Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology OR completion of a military training program in biomedical equipment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician, Field Service Engineer, Medical Equipment Repairer or Information Technology Specialist working with medical equipment.
  • AAMI Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification is not required but highly desired.
  • AAMI Certified Associate in Biomedical Technology (CABT) certification is not required but preferred. Must be able to take and pass the CABT exam within two years of employment with VIKAND.

Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge of codes and standards relevant to safe operation of medical instrumentation such as National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Joint Commission (TJC), and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).
  • Knowledge of electronics and electricity including analog and intermediate digital electronics to test, calibrate, maintain, and repair biomedical equipment and moderately complex biomedical instrumentation systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with network configurations and settings for setting up patient monitoring and other networking equipment such as DICOM is highly desired but not required.
  • Skilled in the setup and use of standard and advanced level test equipment such as digital multimeters, electrical safety analyzers, patient simulators, defibrillator analyzers, infusion pump analyzers and oscilloscopes in performing troubleshooting/repair and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply a variety of technical data from operators and service manuals.
  • Ability to use application software and hardware as it relates to the operation, diagnostics, and programming of medical equipment.
