This opening is an opportunity to use your media relations, writing, and collaboration skills to promote the mission of the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD). ITD is recruiting for a Public Information Officer to join the department's Office of Communication in telling the story of one of the best transportation departments in the country. This position will be based out of our District 4 location in Shoshone. Candidates must have strong writing skills, experience interacting with news media, an understanding of how to use social media effectively, and the ability to develop successful outreach campaigns, facilitate public meetings and assist with internal communication. Example of Duties Serve as media spokesman, develop news releases and other written or oral presentations; handles emergency communication involving crisis or unforeseen circumstances requiring research, writing, editing, and speaking; Develop, implement, and evaluate ITD social media and other public facing outreach; Execute, facilitate and lead communication plans on ITD projects, along with managing the use of consultants/contractors on construction projects; Edit brochures, publications, correspondences; Coordinate project and program information with a variety of community stakeholders, including other state agencies, local government and operate as liaison on legislative activities affecting the department; Monitor and evaluate department information and public relations management policy and program decisions; Strategic advisor to management on public relations, policy and media matters; may prepare department position statements; Develop, provide, or direct in-service information and public relations training; Coordinate, develop and implement outreach programs/events with team members and executive leaders, along with To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
