Job Summary
CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Sr Project Manager Office Analyst to join our CI Project Management Office Team , located in Houston, TX or Evansville, IN.
You will have the ability to: leverage their knowledge of systems to assist in the data collection and analysis in developing value propositions and business cases. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of financial principles, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the project portfolio including the intake, prioritization, and monitoring of projects across various business units.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking in support of data accuracy while collaborating with various stakeholders in the development of business cases and value propositions.
  • Develop and maintain automated reporting processes to streamline data collection and analysis.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity by performing regular quality checks and validation procedures.
  • Identify trends and patterns in data to provide insights that drive business decisions.
  • Prepare and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Implement and maintain portfolio management processes, tools, and frameworks to ensure consistency, efficiency, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Conduct regular portfolio analysis to assess project performance, identify trends, and highlight areas for improvement or optimization.
Essential Functions Continued
  • Collaborate with project managers, finance, and business stakeholders to gather data for accurate financial analysis, track project progress, and update portfolio status reports to facilitate informed decision-making that ensure the successful delivery of projects within constraints and alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide analytical support for project selection, resource allocation, and risk management decisions, including scenario analysis and sensitivity testing as needed.
  • Evaluate the fiscal impact of projects within the portfolio, including cost-benefit analysis, ROI calculation, and budget tracking where necessary to support decision making.
  • Monitor project financial performance including variance analysis and provide updates and recommendations to project stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial risk assessments and sensitivity analyses when necessary to identify potential financial impacts and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams to provide financial expertise and support project planning, execution, and closure activities.
  • Leverage project management skills for planning and monitor progress on deliverables and ensure timely completion of tasks with regular communication to stakeholders to ensure objectives are achieved.
  • Demonstrate excellent business acumen in communications, behavior, dependability, and teamwork.
Education Description
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or related field. In lieu of a bachelor's degree will consider eight (8) years of relevant job-related experience for non-degree candidate where two (2) years of experience may be substituted for one (1) year of education, in additional to the years of relevant work experience.
Experience
  • Requires three - five (3-5) years of experience in financial analysis, portfolio management, or related roles, preferably within a PMO environment.
  • Proficiency with Excel, SharePoint, PowerBI, and SQL.
A bonus to have
  • Experience interacting with employees of all levels to present technical data in a non-technical manner.
  • Experience with corporate systems including but not limited to SAP.
  • Working knowledge of Power Automate.
  • Collaborative with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and an initiative-taking approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Utility experience.
