The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the effective, efficient, and safe functioning of the analytical and chemical laboratories within the Department of Forest Biomaterials. This position will primarily be responsible for: Administration and management of a large variety of analytical equipmentRoutine training of Responsible Users Maintenance of select pieces of specialized analytical instrumentation including testing their capability, calibrating and, on occasion, overseeing the repair of this equipment.Track equipment reservations and usage, ordering, inventory, storage of supplies for the analytical and chemical labsEnsure compliance with University systems (e.g., CAMS, hazardous shipping, etc.). Compose SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and related documents Make decisions on certifications and repairs for equipment and decisions on ordering chemicals and other suppliesThe Research Operations Manager supervises several student workers, assigning them to various tasks in labs throughout the Department.
