Overview

The Clinical Informatics (CI) Consultant II has mastered the basic functions of the CI Consultant I including: first-level support of software and hardware, system testing, training development and facilitation, and interdisciplinary collaboration on workflow and technology design and/or improvement. The CI Consultant II can independently manage assignments, issue resolution, and projects from intake to completion. Leverages expert knowledge of clinical workflows and technology to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems. Serves as a consultant to administration, IS colleagues, and other leaders and staff on process improvements and new implementations. Precepts and trains informatics colleagues. Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Bachelors in Nursing preferred.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

• Current IL RN license required.

Experience:

• A minimum of two years acute care bedside nursing experience is required. At least one year bedside nursing is preferred to be recent experience.
• A minimum of three to five years applied technical experience in a clinical environment or experience with electronic medical record systems and/or health informatics experience required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff using technical and non-technical verbiage.
• Availability to participate in evening, night and weekend ‘on-call’ rotation as required for 24 hour, 7 day a week support of systems.
• Proven track record of excellent critical thinking skills and independent problem-solving abilities.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
• Light physical effort.
