The University of Pittsburgh is seeking an Academic Administrator for the Department of Bioengineering, This is an advanced level administrative support position which provides total administrative support for the Undergraduate Program in the Department of Bioengineering. In addition to providing financial support and academic guidance to all undergraduate students in the program, the incumbent also provides administrative support to the Undergraduate Program Director, the Department Chair, and the Department Administrator. This position is responsible for coordinating all phases of the Undergraduate Program. The incumbent should be self-motivated, a quick learner, and able to employ a high level of independent judgment and initiative. The position requires an adaptive, flexible, energetic, and creative individual with a high degree of professionalism, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and cooperatively as a part of a team. Attention to detail and advanced computer skills are required; experience working with Microsoft Office applications, student information systems, and publishing software is preferred. Understanding the University's policies and procedures and generally accepted principles is desirable.
Manages all aspects of graduate and/or undergraduate academic administrative matters. Monitors degree completion progress and keeps accurate records. Performs administrative, advisory, and editorial duties. Manages the department admission process, assists with attracting prospective students, and processes student financial appointments.
Essential FunctionsAdministrative and management responsibility for aspects related to the bioengineering undergraduate program.
Provide high-level administrative support to the Undergraduate Program Director, the Department Chair, and the Department Administrator.
Coordination of student events as needed including those involving recruitment, graduations, student information sessions, and related events.
Convey BioE student news to BioE External Relations Manager for announcements.
Physical EffortGenerally sedentary; however, this position does require incumbent to occasionally visit industry or other locations throughout the campus. May occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
