Perry Township Schools is Hiring a Director of Elementary Education Near Indianapolis, IN

Purpose Of PositionThis position will support the district goals and will work collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendents and building principals to ensure that our students have access to resources to support their growth and achievement.
Essential Job Functions-Elementary Programming
  • Work with the Assistant Superintendent for Foundational Learning, work with elementary principals, work with secondary principals on data analysis, monitoring, and implementation of the school improvement process
  • Along with the Assistant Superintendent for Foundational Learning, attend Clusters, ILT and provide follow up to support school improvement structures
  • Support assistant principals and master teachers to build their capacity and support implementation of school improvement work, also specifically on-board and support anyone new to the role
  • Support parents and school leaders in finding solutions to complex issues when necessary
  • Lead implementation of strategic initiatives at the elementary level and in collaboration with the Director of Secondary Education for any K-12 initiatives
  • Monitor NIET certification for evaluators along with any other trainings for instructional leaders
  • Provide formal and informal coaching so that all staff members are engaged in learning conversations to improve practice
  • Exhibit risk-taking and courage to challenge conventional thinking in order to advance the work of the district
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven effectiveness in school and/or district leadership roles.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal policies and laws.
  • Extensive knowledge of the needs of students from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated knowledge of high-quality instructional practices that support growth in student achievement
  • Professionalism when working with others, including parents and members of the community
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills and ability to respond timely and effectively
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively and efficiently in a proactive manner with parents, community, school division personnel, administrative and instructional staff
  • Ability to deescalate potentially confrontational situations and provide timely feedback on issues
  • Ability to analyze data used to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional practices

Travel RequirementsTravel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required

License/ Registration/ Certification
  • Current Indiana Teacher’s License and Current Administrator license
Education:
  • Master’s degree in an Education field (Curriculum, Administration, etc.)
  • Educational Specialist Degree (or willing to acquire)
Experience:
  • Evidence of successful Building level or District level administrative experience for a minimum of (5) years
  • Experience serving diverse student populations and promoting equitable outcomes
