ST Engineering MRAS is a world-leading manufacturer of complex aerostructures including nacelle systems and specialized structural components of the airframe. It supplies and supports these products for engine makers, airplane manufacturers and aircraft operators. Located on Maryland's Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore, MRAS has a 1.4-million sq. ft. facility situated on 180 acres – where the company and its predecessors have designed, built, and equipped civil and military aircraft for over 95 years. In addition to MRAS' design, development and manufacturing capabilities, the company provides technical support, spares, and other services for its products.

Role Summary Purpose:
The Facilities Supervisor Oversees personnel in charge of maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding various production machines and equipment. The successful candidate will execute planned maintenance tasks, enhance equipment reliability, extend tool longevity, and respond promptly to reported machine, facility, and equipment issues. Your expertise will be instrumental in minimizing downtime, maximizing efficiency, and contributing to the overall success of our operations.
You will be required to engage other support teams with clear problem statements and initiate the communication that drives the open task to completion.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and provide technical, quality, and production leadership to assigned teams to meet quality, schedule, and cost goals.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Shift Supervisors to plan and prioritize maintenance activities.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify areas for improvement in planned maintenance processes.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve inventory turns and reduce manufacturing losses.
  • Gather data and report out on metrics on the areas you are responsible for
  • Direct the activities of a union hourly team within the maintenance organization and participate in team activities to meet identified goals.
  • Perform administrative duties to support the business, including timecards, labor vouchers, self-audits, absence reviews, and missing time corrections, etc.
  • Achieve and maintain a minimal Response Time to Machine Issues by promptly addressing reported problems.
  • Assist Facilities Management group Leader in coaching and counseling employees regarding individual performance and development needs.
  • Practice sound human relations and communications skills to motivate the assigned work force.
  • Assist the employee engagement and leadership teams with resources during events or large employee gatherings.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce response times and enhance machine reliability.
  • Focus on achieving and surpassing EHS goals for establishing a safe and sustainable approach to facility and maintenance task. Mentor and motivate team in safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
  • Direct teams on proper rigging and handling of equipment and components. Drive a safety-first approach to repairs, rigging and material handling.
  • Coordinate and Liaison for on-site contracting groups: Janitorial, uniforms, pest control, Crane Repair, and other needed services.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s /associate degree from an accredited university or college with 2-5 years of experience in the below areas; OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 10 years of experience in the below areas.

  • Maintenance and rigging of large equipment and automation components.
  • Understanding of CNC and Robotic equipment main component structure
  • Working knowledge of Electrical task used to maintain large manufacturing facility.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and skilled trades used to improve and repair facilities and equipment used to manufacture large aerospace components.
  • Strong Team building and communication Skills with a focus on employee engagement.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

Desired Characteristics:

  • 15 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting for Aerospace Assembly, Machine Shop and Composites Manufacturing.
  • 3 years of Supervisor or Progressive Leadership experience is preferred.
  • Strong background in rigging and material handling.
  • Familiar with Continuous Improvement (5S, TPM, Quick Change, Poke-Yoke, D.I.V.E. and VSM).
  • Ability to learn SAP for Plant Maintenance orders including but not limited to critical spares, lighting, material storage components, forklift and transportation equipment and office and warehouse essentials.
  • Inventory management awareness for critical spares and facility critical components.
  • Working Knowledge of Facility(s) Mechanical and Electrical Systems.
  • Machine Design layout and installation.
  • Experience with equipment alignment techniques for calibration and comp of CNC and Robotic equipment.
  • Work with Lead(s) from Machine repair and Machine Electrical Control to create procedures for maintenance task. This effort will allow less experienced team members to learn while driving consistency.
  • Ability to read OEM drawings, BOM, and a basic understanding of Electrical Schematics.
  • Ability and willingness to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Job will require off-shift and after-hours phone, email support in order to deploy maintenance personnel to assure the 3 shifts x 5 day normal schedule and the frequent 3 shift weekend operations are supported.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to counsel and motivate workforce.
  • Strong working knowledge of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout)
