Wastewater Plant Manager – LaCoste, TX

The Position - We are looking for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager at our LaCoste, TX location who will manage the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a [150,000] gallon per day wastewater treatment plant. The Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager oversees all phases of wastewater treatment and maintains an effluent stream that meets or exceeds all EPA and TCEQ requirements. Duties include but are not limited to managing existing staff, maintaining adequate chemical and supply inventories, monitoring dosing, completing analytical testing, providing oversight to the pretreatment (type V) operation, and maintaining/submitting required regulatory reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliant operation of wastewater treatment facility
  • Provide management to the waste pretreatment (Type V) process
  • Ensures correct dosage application by monitoring and adjusting the appropriate process
  • Performs various process testing as needed, such as process control testing
  • Complete required daily analytical work as well as calibration tests
  • Schedule plant testing as required by the relevant permits
  • Manages trucked waste, haulers permits and monitoring
  • Collects data and enters databases, maintains plant records and produces reports as needed
  • Performs a preventative maintenance program to minimize breakdowns and repairs
  • Conducts and records, on a routine basis, chemical analysis at all stages of treatment process
  • Conducts special studies as required
  • Answers phone, dispatches calls, relays information, and makes decisions regarding plant operations
  • Assists with process modification as needed
  • Operates facility in safe and orderly manner, complying with all City, County, Federal and department safety rules
  • Preparing annual performance evaluations for Operators
  • Employee will work in extreme temperatures an outdoor environment, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and climbing to perform duties
  • Employee will frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Employee will be exposed to potential mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards
  • Employee will be exposed to and work in dirt, dust, noise, fumes, odors, water, and mud
  • Ability to perform chemical analysis on wastewater samples, interpret results and make proper adjustments to treatment processes
  • Skill in use and maintenance of treatment plant equipment
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications


Educational Background & Experience Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree or 5 years’ experience in wastewater treatment plant operations (Preferred)
  • Two years’ experience in a wastewater supervisory role (Preferred)
  • TCEQ Class C wastewater license or greater
  • Ability to get along with other employees and the public
  • Ability to sit, stand, and transport self from site to site, walking over slippery, loose/uneven or sloped surfaces
  • Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various work sites
  • Fine manipulation with hands and fingers to prepare samples and to operate and calibrate analyzers
  • Ability to read, understand, and utilize work orders, gauges, meters, chemical reports, manuals, computers, and other operating, measuring, and testing devices
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of EPA and TCEQ rules and regulations regarding wastewater treatment
  • Experienced in handling/using chlorine, Polymer, and other caustic, toxic, and corrosive supplies, and chemicals
